In the past there were many local trades, crafts, and communities working together. Each had a connection to the land and sustainable use of resources.

But now we have become to disconnected to everything we use. We don’t know or think about where materials come from or who makes them. And we have a throwaway culture without knowing where ‘away’ is.

If we keep going on the path we’re on then we are at risk of creating an even narrower view of materials and greater disconnection from the communities around us.

However if we change to a circular and regenerative society then we can expand our connections and reduce how much we rely on imports and raw materials. An interdependent future is crucial for people and the planet.
